Web design Research 1

Web design Research web page 2 (pinterest)

Just like other social media websites, Pinterest is were you can share multiple pictures of pretty much anything. There are many different tastes of art for example, from cartoon and colourful, to black & white styled photographs. There are thousands of users on Pinterest so appealing to them would of been one of the things that the company would have considered.

Pinterest keeps it slightly neutral with the colours. It uses mainly brown in the foreground. The website uses only two bright colours, blue and red which help it to stand out a bit. The logo is simple and small in the centre of the page. The background pictures move which is very useful seeing that a person can see what the website or app is about.

When I used Adobe Illustrator, these were the colours that I found that the website mainly used. As you can see, the colours weren't over powering and bright.

The method for extracting these colours on Adobe Illustrator was, I used a selection tool to pick the colours and I used the eyedropper tool to place the colours in the boxes. This range of colours are an unusual mix but looking at the website page they work really well.
The target audience for this website is I think around the 17 and above mark mainly because that people in that age rang are more likely to use it. People in that age range are also more likely to be the generations that use the most time on electronics for example the phone.

Web Design Research, web page1 (Thomas Cook)
One of the websites that I looked that was the Thomas Cook website. They are holiday and tour operators which sell tickets for short stays and hoildays.

The fist thing that I noticed was the colours of their website were cool, calm and relaxing colours which suggested a calm mood. On the website there weren't any odd or contrasting colours. The colours used in the website are of all light colours, for example, light blue instead of just blue or light green. the picture it self shows a calm relaxed feeling.
One of the other reasons why I think that the website is like that because of its aims. Its aims are to advertise the there company and sell tickets. Implying that if a person were to go on holiday and book it from them, it would be exactly the same as they through it would be. Calm, relaxing and cool. There's not a lot of wording or an overload of pictures on the page which could suggest that its a pretty straight forward website.

When I was collecting the colours from the website, I used a adobe illustrators to help me extract the colours. I used the selection tool and a eyedropper tool to move the colours into the boxes on the right. These boxes show the colours that the website used. It took me a while before I could get use to the software because of the new tools.
